Baby Emma

I was invited to capture some images of the 5-month old daughter of our friends' Shaina and Luis and aside from the fact that my "model" wasn't able to sit up on her own, spit up a few times, and then fell asleep, the whole thing was really a blast. She was actually a great model - no crying at all - and she has such beautiful, big, brown eyes. Hopefully she'll invite me back for
another session.

Nature & Travel Work

My original passion in photography was capturing images of great natural beauty. It all started back in high school when I spent a month backpacking through the Sierra Mountains of California. I was truly amazed by the landscapes that were constantly before my eyes - rugged mountains, silky waterfalls, pastel sunsets. I photographed it all, so eager to be able to share with my family and friends how breathtaking it all was. Of course I just figured I could point my camera and fire away and everything I saw would translate exactly on to film (this was back in the day, years away from digital). As I learned after getting home and poring over the slides I shot, I was sorely mistaken. The pictures just didn't do justice to the beauty I had seen, and I was sufficiently motivated to make sure that would not be the case in the future. My photography career was born. I wanted to continue to travel and see new things and new places and be able to accurately display everything through my photographs. And that's what I've been dedicating my time to. Now, I want to share my images with everyone. From little frogs in Georgia to delicate wildflowers in Vermont and wonderous landscapes in Utah, you can check out my nature work at www.pictage.com/619464. Enjoy.

Florida/Everglades Trip

Judy and I were lucky enough to escape the New England winter for a week in January and spend a little time down in sunny Florida. We split our time visiting with her grandmother in Century Village, Deerfield Beach (the mecca for New York/New Jersey snowbirds and a recent influx of Canadians) and roadtripping down through the Everglades. Now I've been around the country and visited many of our National Parks and I've been to the Everglades before, but it truly is an amazing place. As far as "bang for you buck" wildlife viewing this place has to be at the top of the list. Within 10 minutes of being in the park you can be on a trail surrounded by alligators (for some reason, not as scary as it sounds), turtles, and amazingly beautiful birds. Its truly a sight to be seen.

We even got one guy to smile for the camera - I think he's just happy to be living in Florida:

A few scenes from our overnight canoe adventure into the heart of the Everglades. It may look beautiful (and it was) but when you have to paddle for 5 hours straight with no food, drink, or bathroom break its hard to think about the views. The problem is really a lack of solid ground - its just mangrove swamp as far as the eye can see so you have no where to pull over, get out, and take care of you business. We were suffering at certain points. And on top of that nobody was able to provide us with a solid map so we weren't exactly sure of our destination. Did I say adventure? But we made it to our chickee (a basic platform built right in the middle of the 'Glades just big enough for a tent and room to prepare some dinner) and the sunset was stunning.

New Website

Welcome - this is my first ever post and I'm excited to be here and be able to share with everyone all of my photographic explorations. I'll be posting wedding work and portraiture as well as my nature photos and images from my travels. If I'm photographing it, I'll be sharing it. And the first thing I'm excited to share is my new website which can be found at http://simirabinowitzphoto.com/. My wife Judy and I are very pleased with the new look and pround to present the work we've produced over our first few years in the wedding photography industry. Enjoy.
