Texas - Part II

Got some more pictures here from the rest of our Texas trip - little bit of San Antonio and a little bit of Austin. The RiverWalk in San Antonio was really unique - unlike any city atmosphere I've seen. I was hoping to get some night shots to really capture the colors and character, but rains came in and I couldn't risk soaking the camera. And speaking of risking the camera, in Austin we went to a University of Texas baseball game where they threatened to confiscate all my gear if I took any shots. NCAA rule, I guess. But it was a great trip nonetheless - hope to go back some day in warmer weather.

Big Bend

Judy and I were off on a little winter escape down in Texas last week - we hit San Antonio, Austin, and Big Bend National Park. I'd been to Big Bend about 12 years ago and its definitely one of my favorite places in the US. About an 8 hour drive from San Antonio across west Texas past nothing but ranchland, windmills, tumbleweeds, and open skies. Its amazing how little is out there and yet how beautiful it is. And then you come to the park full of cool plants and animals with mountains in some areas and canyons cutting thought the Rio Grande along the Mexican border. A truly special place.
